Professor Martha Hill

The prevalence of high blood pressure and cardio-vascular disease within socio-economically disadvantaged communities is well documented around the world.

During this Distinguished Lecture held at UTS in January 2009, Professor Martha Hill gave first-hand insights into the benefits of a multi-professional approach to research for delivering better outcomes in high blood pressure care and control.

Dr Hill is the Dean of The Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing in Baltimore, USA, where she is also Professor of Nursing, Medicine and Public Health. Her expertise in community-based research focuses on improving treatment and outcomes for vulnerable and underserved populations through the integration of multi-professional health care. She is recognised around the globe for her investigations in preventing and treating hypertension and its complications, particularly among young, urban African-American men.
