Maternity and Paediatric Nursing Focused Facilities
Leading the way with the first Bachelor of Midwifery in NSW, UTS provides midwifery students with advanced midwifery and infant simulation technologies at the City campus.
The maternity-focused facilities include:
- infant warmer
- newborn simulators
- Prompt Birthing Simulator™
- PDA Stat Baby (available at both campuses)
- part-task trainers for assessment and examination skills
- life in the womb prenatal education kit
- Noelle™ birthing simulator
- in 2008 video cameras and microphones with live feed into the high fidelity simulation lab control room
- in 2008 touch screen monitor to activate recording in control room
- wall-mounted oxygen outlets
- IV equipment - Virtual IV trainer
- midwives stations
The paediatric nursing-focused facilities include all the above plus:
- several infant and child manikins including Nursing Baby and Nursing Kid
- shared equipment across disciplines includes the new SimNewB - to be delivered late 2008.
